Iran Flag

The national flag of Iran is rich in symbolism and reflects the country’s cultural, religious, and historical identity. It features three horizontal stripes: green on top, white in the middle, and red at the bottom. In the center of the white band is a stylized emblem of Iran, which represents the word “Allah” and symbolizes unity and sovereignty. Along the borders between the green and white, and the red and white stripes, the phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great) is repeated 22 times in stylized Kufic script, marking the date of the Islamic Revolution (22 Bahman in the Iranian calendar). The green color represents Islam, growth, and hope; white stands for peace and honesty; and red symbolizes courage, martyrdom, and sacrifice. The current flag was adopted after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and it serves as a powerful emblem of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s values and history.
