Malta Flag
€10,00
The flag of Malta consists of two vertical bands, white on the hoist side and red on the fly side. In the upper hoist corner of the white band, there is a representation of the George Cross, outlined in red. The George Cross was awarded to the Maltese people by King George VI of Britain in 1942, in recognition of their bravery and resilience during World War II. The white and red colors are traditional and date back to the colors of the Knights of St. John, who ruled Malta from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Officially adopted in 1964, when Malta gained independence, the flag symbolizes courage, strength, and the island nation’s rich history and pride.
